See&Moon

(説明)

As the sweltering heat continues, it is easy to lose sight of the scenery outside the window. At times like this, what calms the mind is the cool world of ink and wash paintings.Today, I would like to introduce "Umizuki," a work by Kodama Kibo, a Japanese-style painter active from the Meiji period to the Showa period.

The picture is filled with wildly breaking waves bathed in the light of the full moon, and the reefs that catch the waves without hesitation. The contrast between the force of the waves' spray and the tranquility of the moon is magnificent. The work has a realistic feel as if one can almost hear the sound of the raging waves, yet it also has a somewhat fantastical atmosphere. This work gives the viewer a sense of coolness and at the same time a sense of the grandeur of nature.
