Atsushi Uemura

Atsushi Uemura (12 April 1933-) is a Japanese painter and a member of the Japan Art Academy. His real name is Atsushi Uemura. Professor Emeritus at Kyoto City University of Arts. Former professor and vice-president of Kyoto City University of Arts. Director of the Nara Research Institute of the Japanese Society for the Protection of Birds. Lives in Nara City.


Born in Kyoto City, the son of Uemura Shoko. His classmate in the special science class was Itami Juzo. Like his father, he paints flowers and birds.


Uemura Shoen is his grandmother, and three generations of his family have been members of the Art Academy. In 2013, she was awarded a prize for cultural merit.
