This is a work of underglaze gilding, in which gold leaf is used thickly and thinly over a radiating yellow glaze underglaze to express patterns of Daisen lotus flowers and leaves and small birds playing among them, and then transparent glaze is applied over it and fired. The thickness and thinness of the gold leaf is affected by the firing temperature, giving the work a subtle flavor, and combined with the graceful color tone, it is a work of high prestige.
